Compresión de fonocardiogramas mediante las transformadas wavelet y wavelet packet

Abstract

En este artículo se describe un método específico para la compresión del fonocardiograma. Este método emplea la transformada wavelet, descartando aquellos coeficientes inferiores a un determinado umbral (compresión con pérdidas) junto a otros métodos adicionales para aumentar la tasa de compresión, como la codificación Huffman y la codificación RLE (compresión sin pérdidas). Los resultados muestran mejor tasa de compresión y menor distorsión que las obtenidas mediante las técnicas estándar de compresión de audio, debido a que el método propuesto está específicamente diseñado para la banda de frecuencias de interés de las señales fonocardiográficas.
