Architecture without architects in the urban landscape of Mula.
Authors: Estrada Bernal, Aaron;

Abstract

[Eng] The following work is based on the publication that Bernard Rudofsky made in 1964 after his exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Architecture and the environments we inhabit have been moving away from the context in which they were inserted, from the non-urban landscape and its materials, techniques and collective experiences that once governed the comings and goings of the inhabitants of a place. The homogeneous urban models, the so-called zoning that our towns and cities have been experiencing, have reconfigured them and reduced the types of exchange, constraining support environments for those who are in a situa- tion of vulnerability, something that accentuates the loss of ties and of the idiosyncrasies of the populations. On the other hand, the energy and climate crisis makes it necessary to look at methods that allow us to reduce the footprint left by our buildings, both in their execution and throughout their useful life. The identity of Mula is sought within the elements of popular architecture existing in its historical urban landscape, beyond the stately and noble archi- tecture that is customary to highlight. The theoretical framework is defined, the contextual reality of the city is analyzed and the values contributed by the authorless architecture to be pre- served in the urban landscape of Mula are determined after a photographic documentation of the current reality in which the elements are found. that make up this landscape. This is intended to awaken sensitivity towards other nearby urban centers that share similar elements and whose problems and identities are similar to those of Mula.
