Utilización de insectos en el control de plagas hortícolas

Abstract

En Producción Integrada, el control de las plagas y enfermedades de los cultivos se realiza aplicando un conjunto de métodos satisfactorios desde el punto de vista económico, ecológico y toxicológico, dando prioridad al empleo de elementos naturales de regulación, y respetando los umbrales de tolerancia. Por lo tanto, utilizando prioritariamente, métodos biológicos para resolver los problemas fitosanitarios que se planteen. Lo mismo ocurre en Agricultura Ecológica, en la cual, no se utiliza productos químicos de síntesis en la producción, elaboración y conservación de sus productos. Por otra parte los consumidores, concienciados con la problemática medioambiental y alertados de los riesgos que suponen para su salud el uso de plaguicidas químicos, exigen, cada vez más, que se sigan buenas prácticas agrícolas durante el proceso de producción. En este contexto, el control biológico ha tomado gran protagonismo.
