ARQUIVISTAS, CIENTISTAS E DADOS ABERTOS: UMA EQUAÇÃO COMPLEXA?

Abstract

The digital environment supports intensive production and data sharing and requires the development of open science and cura- tion practices, and skills in the information literacy field. The “data deluge” affects the most diverse institutional and governmental envi- ronments. According to this framework, the aims of this chapter are: to understand some of the components involved in these new envi- ronments, to focus attention on the role that archivists can play in this environment, supporting scientists in research data management tasks and to present some international initiatives concerning these matters. For this purpose, bibliographic searches in databases were carried out, focused on the collection of papers published in the last 10 years. The main results and conclusions suggest that, despite initial resistance to acknowledge research data as a work object, there is a growing tendency for archivists to accept this challenge, to embed in projects that take place in institutions and governments, and view research data management as an opportunity for growth and academic and professional visibility.
