Equidade no acesso a medicamentos oncológicos

Abstract

Portugal possui uma política de saúde e medicamento cujo, principal, objetivo é promover a equidade no acesso aos cuidados de saúde e medicamentos, independentemente, das condições socioeconómicas ou culturais dos cidadãos. Contudo, face à crise mundial, devido ao coronavírus, o aumento da despesa em medicamentos e à criação de medicamentos inovadores muito caros, faz com que os orçamentos de saúde não consigam suportar de forma sustentável os custos resultantes da introdução de novas terapias no Sistema Nacional de Saúde (SNS). Num cenário perfeito os custos em saúde deveriam ser vistos como um investimento, e não como uma despesa, cujo retorno é o aumento não só da esperança como, também, da qualidade de vida.
