A fibromatose gengival hereditária (HGF) é uma hiperplasia fibrosa não inflamatória, benigna, rara, de lento desenvolvimento, que afeta as gengivas maxilar e mandibular, assim como a erupção dos dentes permanentes (mais raramente afeta os dentes decíduos). Esta condição pode estar presente ao nascimento. Manifesta-se na forma de crescimento nodular ou liso, localizado ou generalizado, ao nível dos tecidos gengivais, com severidade variável. Pode ser isolado, ter carácter hereditário com transmissão autossómica dominante ou estar associado a uma síndrome. Gengivectomia e laser são os tratamentos de eleição.
