Abstract

A evolução que tem caracterizado a Endodontia, permitiu avanços significativos tanto ao nível dos materiais utilizados para o fabrico de instrumentos, bem como o modo que estes são fabricados. O aumento da eficiência, resistência a torção, fadiga cíclica e diminuição do risco de acidentes durante a instrumentação têm sido as orientações dos principais fabricantes de instrumentos. A preparação de canais curvos é um desafio para o Endodontista, uma vez que pode levar a vários problemas iatrogênicos, tais como a formação de zips, degraus ou perfurações. Para superar estes problemas, foram desenvolvidos novos instrumentos de níquel e titânio que se revelaram benéficos para a preparação de canais curvos devido às suas propriedades de alta flexibilidade e resistência superior à fratura por torção. O objectivo principal destes novos instrumentos, é simplificar os procedimentos Endodônticos, respeitando simultaneamente os objectivos de conformação. Em 2011 surgiu o novo sistema: Reciproc®. Usando uma lima única em Níquel Titânio para instrumentar o canal radicular. Este instrumento revolucionou a área da Endodontia.
