Pulpotomia de dentes decíduos com cimento de Portland

Abstract

A pulpotomia é um tratamento endodôntico conservador muito comum para dentes decíduos com grande extensão de cárie com atingimento da polpa coronária, este tratamento tem como objectivo preservar a polpa radicular ou parte dela. Vários materiais e técnicas têm sido empregues na realização de pulpotomias, cada um com a sua finalidade e as suas limitações. O principal objectivo desta dissertação é analisar, a possibilidade terapêutica da utilização do cimento de Portland na realização de pulpotomias de dentes decíduos e compreender os mecanismos de acção do material assim como as suas propriedades físicas e químicas que tornam viável a sua utilização em pulpotomias de dentes decíduos. A pesquisa bibliográfica foi realizada nas bases de dados: PubMed, e B-on onde foram utilizadas as palavras-chave em conjunto ou individualmente: Portland cement, Pulpotomy, vital pulp therapy, primary teeth pulpotomy. Também foram consultados livros e teses. Tendo como base a literatura utilizada para desenvolver a dissertação, chegou-se à conclusão que o cimento de Portland é um material económico de fácil acesso e tem demonstrado bons resultados ao nível biológico e com elevado sucesso clínico e radiográfico, sendo possível a sua utilização em pulpotomias de dentes decíduos.
