Osteoclasts are cells that com from a myeloid cell lineage, as such, their precursors have immunological features although the mature cell type is non-inflammatory. With this article, the authors pretend to review stimulae that inhibit/stimulate osteoclast activity and possible pathological conditions that arise from changes in their hematic levels. Our research shows that there doesn’t exist a predominant type of stimulae. A small physiological fluctuation is capable of severely condicioning bone remodelling. *artigo revisto pela Prof. Doutora Sandra Clara Soares (FCS - Grupo de Imonulogia)
