Plasma rico em plaquetas na Implantologia

Abstract

Oral implant supported-rehabilitations resolved the major limitations of conventional dentures. However, the time and success of expected implant treatment brought new challenges, such as the use of autologous platelet concentrates for the promotion of osseointegration. The platelet rich plasma is defined as an autologous volume of plasma that contains a concentration of platelets above those present in normal blood stream. These are known for promoting hard tissue regeneration as well as soft ones. The purpose of the present work is to observe, through randomized controlled studies, if there are benefits from the use of platelet rich plasma as a surface modifier in dental implants, mainly, understand if it’s application represents a clinical benefit in the osseointegration process and Implant stability. The present thesis also covers methods of obtaining PRP as well as differences among different protocols.
