Abstract

Due to various factors, such as the evolution of science, nurses are constantly faced with ethical dilemmas the scope they have to solve. Also, in the remaining cares rendered to the population, it must be taken into account professional ethics in order to care for a person as a human being, regarding her as a whole, and not dividing her into different parts. Hence, it is relevant the integration of ethics in care. Thus, it is considered important to develop a study in the Nursing Degree known as "Ethics of Care in Nursing: a 4th year Nursing student's opinion." with the main objective of knowing the student’s opinion about Ethics in Care. To make this study possible, a literature search was performed which led to the theoretical framework. In this context it is relevant to address the following themes: conceptualization and historical perspective of ethics, basic training for ethical action and cares in nursing. The formulation of a descriptive exploratory study was chosen, based on a qualitative methodology. The sample consisted of five (5) 4th year Nursing students. The instrument used for data collection was an interview. With the results obtained we can conclude that it is unanimous that ethics is essential in caring and in the nursing profession. All students interviewed were aware that the Ethics and Professional Deontology discipline plays a central role in the course of clinical teaching. Also they all claim that their opinion about the work ethic changed over the four-year degree, for that contributing the lectures of Ethics and Professional Deontology, clinical course, and one student also pointed out the Nursing Fundamentals classes. This project will enable a better mastery of research methods and techniques.
