Beatriz Sarlo: fervores del compromiso

Abstract

This paper focuses on Beatriz Sarlo ideas, one of our most renowned intellectuals, on the rapports between intellectuals and society in Argentina during the sixties and the seventies. Sarlo analyses the mains features of the uncritical ‘commitment’ that led intellectuals to submit to politics. Their strive to commute with the peronist masses and the same time vindicate the lack of understanding on the part of the latter of their revolutionary responsibilities forced intellectuals to yield to political circumstances. Sarlo invites us to rethink both the links between ideology, culture and society and the political and social role of the intellectuals.
