Consequências metabólicas da dieta cetogénica e do jejum intermitente

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objetivo a revisão da evidência científica relativa ao jejum intermitente e à dieta cetogénica e o seu efeito no metabolismo, abordando diferentes doenças. Para este fim, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica e consequente seleção de artigos considerados pertinentes para este trabalho. Através desta pesquisa foi possível aferir que uma alteração na dieta, quer pela adoção de uma dieta cetogénica quer por uma modificação para um jejum intermitente, tem efeito no metabolismo humano. A alteração da principal fonte de energia da glicose para os corpos cetónicos, provenientes de ácidos gordos, pode ser usada como potencial intervenção em algumas doenças como a diabetes mellitus tipo 1 e 2, o cancro e doenças neurológicas como a doença de Alzheimer.
