La percezione degli studenti su progettazione, utilità e coerenza dei PCTO: primi risultati del progetto PRIN 2022 “i PCTO come dispositivo per lo sviluppo di risorse personali e il contrasto alla dispersione”

Abstract

Le Linee guida nazionali per l’orientamento e la raccomandazione del Consiglio dell’Unione Europea sottolineano l’importanza dell’orientamento per il successo dei giovani. In questo contesto, i Percorsi per le Competenze Trasversali e l’Orientamento (PCTO) nelle scuole secondarie italiane svolgono un ruolo cruciale, offrendo esperienze formative interne ed esterne alla scuola. La letteratura evidenzia la necessità di valutare l’efficacia dei PCTO considerando i fattori che ne influenzano l’implementazione. Questo contributo presenta alcuni risultati del progetto PRIN 2022 “I PCTO come dispositivo per lo sviluppo di risorse personali e il contrasto alla dispersione”, che coinvolge l’Università Sapienza di Roma, l’Università di Milano-Bicocca e l’Università Alma Mater di Bologna. Il progetto si articola in tre linee di ricerca: un’analisi documentale di 200 PTOF, quattro studi di caso in istituti superiori di Lazio, Lombardia ed Emilia-Romagna per esaminare i PCTO e il loro impatto sulle scelte educative e professionali degli studenti, e una survey retrospettiva sugli studenti universitari per valutare l’influenza dei PCTO sulle scelte di carriera. Dai risultati iniziali degli studi di caso, che hanno coinvolto 1575 studenti attraverso un questionario ad hoc, emergono riflessioni preliminari su elementi di “qualità” dei PCTO, analizzando l’andamento in relazione ai criteri promossi dalle Linee Guida Ministeriali (DM n.774/2019).

The National Guidelines for Guidance and the Recommendation of the Council of the European Union emphasize the importance of guidance for the success of young people. In this context, PCTOs (Percorsi per le Competenze Trasversali e l’Orientamento) Italian secondary schools play a crucial role in offering in-school and out-of-school training experiences. The literature highlights the need to evaluate the effectiveness of PCTOs by considering the factors that influence their implementation. This paper presents some results of the PRIN 2022 project “PCTOs as a device for developing personal resources and combating dropout,” involving the Sapienza University of Rome, the University of Milano-Bicocca, and the Alma Mater University of Bologna. The project consists of three lines of research: a documentary analysis of 200 PTOFs, four case studies in high schools in Lazio, Lombardy, and Emilia-Romagna to examine PCTOs and their impact on students’ educational and vocational choices, and a retrospective survey of university students to assess the influence of PCTOs on career choices. Preliminary reflections on elements of “quality” of PCTOs emerge from the initial results of the case studies, which involved 1575 students through an ad hoc questionnaire, analyzing performance about the criteria promoted by the Ministerial Guidelines (Ministerial Decree No. 774/2019).
