Lignocellulosic materials, biomass not destinated for human and/or animal consumption, are the base of the second generation bioethanol production plants. These materials are composed primarily by cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. After hydrolysis, the sugars from the polysaccharides can be converted into ethanol by fermentation, and the residues of the process are composed mainly of lignin. Considering the growing interest in this type of plants, large amounts of lignin will be available in the future. Currently, the lignin is a by-little used. Obvious economic and environmental reasons require to enhance this product
