The speed of changes in the competitive landscape and the increasing hyper-competition emphasize the critical importance for firms of developing distinctive dynamic capabilities. In particular, market-driven firms must excel in outside-in capabilities in order to address the complexity of the marketplace and to take advantage of market opportunities. The chapter shows that market-driven firms outclass the competitors in two outside-in capabilities: the market sensing capability and the customer linking capability.
