Abstract

L'articolo analizza il culto della Kumari, una bambina impubere il cui ruolo è di incarnare la divinità di lingnaggio dei re nepalesi. La bambina perde la sua condizione divina a seguito di qualsiasi perdita di sangue, e soprattutto quello mestruale. La ragione della perdita della divinità non è tanto l'impurità del sangue mestruale, ma il fatto che l'entrata della bambina nella sfera delle riproduzione, della sessualità e del matrimonio comporta la sua perdita di valore nei confronti dell'istituto regale, che tende a concentrare il potere all'interno del lignaggio e nella relazione intima con la dea tantrica tutelare
