Abstract

“Embeddedness/ Incorporazione” definisce un approccio basato sull’assunto che il comportamento economico non può essere compreso come funzione di utilità di attori atomizzati ma dipende dai contesti sociali diversi in cui gli attori operano, intesi come reti di interazione sociale e come istituzioni, norme e abitudini sociali, politiche, cognitive e culturali. Si assume quindi che comportamenti e preferenze economiche, e, di conseguenza, le modalità di strutturazione della vita economica, siano variabili a condizioni sociali differenti e in ambienti storici e culturali diversi. Il concetto di embeddedness costituisce lo strumento per identificare le diversità sociali di fondo che caratterizzano i comportamenti economici. In questo articolo si discutono le diverse modalità di intendere il concetto di embeddedness e il dibattito metodologico e teorico che scaturisce da diverse interpretazioni delle forme di embeddedness che costituiscono un potente strumento interpretativo della varietà della vita economica in presenza dei processi di crescita della eterogeneità e della instabilità delle società contemporanee.
