Etnometodologia: considerazioni di un profano

Abstract

La vita quotidiana è situata in sistemi culturali ed istituzionali di riferimento che sono bensì storicamente determinati, ma che hanno carattere astratto rispetto all’ordine locale delle interazioni ed esercitano un effetto vincolante nei loro confronti. L’ordine locale s’inserisce, dunque, in uno metalocale ed istituzionale, il quale non può ridursi ad una pluralità di ordini locali. Ignorando l’ordine istituzionale, l’etnometodologia non è concettualmente attrezzata allo studio delle grandi organizzazioni, della tecnologia e, in genere, della modernità. Sono queste le fonti del senso comune, alimentato innumerevoli volte mediante le esperienze della vita quotidiana. Tuttavia, restando sempre distinguibili un livello analitico micro e macro, l’etnometodologia ha bensì per oggetto gli ordini locali, ma l’oggetto, il metodo e i risultati dell’analisi etnometodologica hanno rilevanza anche da un punto di vista macrosociologico.
