Abstract

The idea of false friend as a suggestion is the base of this paper which analyses this concept from a cognitive point of view. We have considered the high frequency of these structures in languages of the same origin like Italian and Spanish. Our analysis is principally based on the studio of lexical units that present an outstanding contrast, on the derivation and on the phraseological units. Thus, it is deduced the importance that has the pragmatic use in the determination of all the possible false friends existing in function of the different combinations that the thought of each culture presents.
