La arquitectura privada romana en el mundo urbano ha recibido escasa atención por los investigadores que han venido mostrando un mayor interés tanto por áreas urbanas de extraordinaria espectacularidad –edificios de carácter público-, como por aquellos ambientes privados edificados en los espacios rurales. La ausencia de trabajos de investigación, y por el contrario, la relevancia científica de las evidencias arqueológicas de estos conjuntos habitacionales nos motivó para iniciar la investigación, que partiendo del análisis de la arquitectura privada en el contexto general del Mediterráneo occidental nos aproximó al objeto de estudio principal del trabajo: la Provincia Baetica. Comprender la arquitectura privada de las ciudades de la Baetica conllevaba entender otros muchos aspectos urbanísticos, técnicos, edilicios o decorativos que se desarrollaban en la ciudad y en las viviendas en particular. Las conclusiones obtenidas de esta investigación resultan de gran interés científico, no sólo por las particularidades que manifiesta su arquitectura doméstica en el Sur de Hispania, sino también por su vinculación con el Norte de África y con el centro del poder imperial, la Península italiana.________________________________The private Roman architecture in the urban World has got only just attention by the researchers who have come showing a major interest so much for urban areas of extraordinary beauty – buildings of public character -, as for those private environments built in the rural spaces. The absence of research Works, and on the contrary, the scientific significance of the archaeological evidences of this domestic collections motivated us to initiate the research, which departing from the analysis of the private architecture in the general context of the western Mediterranean, It approached us to the principal study of the work: the Baetica Province. To understand the private architecture of the Baetica cities, it was necessary to understand other many aspects that were developed in the city and in the private houses, like: urban development, architectonic techniques or decorative. The conclusions extracted of this research have a great scientific interest, not only for the particularities that demonstrates its domestic architecture in the South of Hispania, but also for its links with the North of Africa and the center of the imperial power, the Italian Peninsula.
