Experiencias de mujeres auxiliares de ayuda a domicilio en el cuidado de personas con Alzheimer

Abstract

Objetivo: Explorar y describir las experiencias de las auxiliares de ayuda a domicilio en su labor de cuidado a personas con enfermedad de Alzheimer, identificando la percepción que tienen sobre los factores personales influyentes. Método: Estudio cualitativo con enfoque fenomenológico-descriptivo, aplicando el método de Giorgi para analizar las experiencias de 15 auxiliares de ayuda a domicilio con más de 1 ano˜ de experiencia en el cuidado de personas con enfermedad de Alzheimer. Las participantes fueron seleccionadas mediante muestreo en bola de nieve, y los datos se recogieron a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas hasta alcanzar suficiencia descriptiva. Resultados: Se identificaron cuatro categorías principales y once subcategorías, centradas en cómo perciben las condiciones de trabajo, la diversidad de emociones emergidas, las habilidades y las competencias necesarias para un cuidado de calidad, y el desarrollo personal que reporta el trabajo a estas profesionales. Conclusiones: Las auxiliares de ayuda a domicilio desempeñan ˜ un papel esencial en la atención de personas con Alzheimer, pero sus condiciones laborales y la falta de apoyo profesional adecuado dificultan su desempeño˜ y bienestar. Garantizarles unas condiciones de trabajo dignas y herramientas para gestionar su carga emocional sería una medida clave para mejorar la calidad del cuidado que brindan. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
