Patrimonio cultural inmaterial de la humanidad y turismo

Abstract

En los últimos años, hemos observado, y distintas investigaciones así lo han destacado, el amplio potencial de las declaraciones de patrimonio de la UNESCO como valor para la promoción de destinos turísticos. Constituye un poderoso instrumento para el desarrollo económico local y un beneficioso incentivo de la actividad turística. Con la Convención General para la Salvaguarda del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial (2003) y la incorporación de esta nueva categorización de bienes patrimoniales a preservar, la UNESCO no se limita a reconocer los bienes patrimoniales –materiales/inmuebles- de la Convención de 1972, los Sitios del Patrimonio Mundial (WHS), sino que lo amplía considerablemente a los aspectos inmateriales de la cultura y las distintas manifestaciones de la “cultura viva” (tradiciones, expresiones orales, artes del espectáculo, usos sociales, rituales, conocimientos, artesanías, etc.). Los bienes inmateriales reconocidos por la UNESCO se identifican con un logotipo propio y unas consideraciones y tratamientos diferentes de los empleados para los Sitios del Patrimonio Mundial. Nuestra comunicación plantea mostrar cómo incide el reconocimiento de bienes patrimoniales inmateriales de la UNESCO en la actividad turística, hasta qué punto se emplea, promociona y difunde la nueva marca de Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial, y qué consecuencias tiene sobre este tipo de bienes, sus protagonistas y agentes.
