Abstract

El macizo cuarzo-feldespático que aflora en el curso alto del río Freser (Pirineos Orientales) ha sido objeto de numerosas interpretaciones que incluyen desde su consideración como un zócalo gneísico precámbrico, una intrusión ordovícica gneisificada durante la Orogenia Herciniana o incluso una intrusión granítica herciniana. Unas recientes dataciones de U-Pb en circones proporcionan una edad claramente ordovícica de unos 457 Ma para todos los protolitos de las rocas quarzo-feldespáticas, las cuales son consideradas genéricamente como ortogneises. Sin embargo el hallazgo de evidentes contactos intrusivos que seccionan las estucturas hercinianas y se ramifican como apófisis centimétricas a métricas en los esquistos corneanificados parece contradecir esta edad. En el nuevo contacto intrusivo de la Jaça Roja que se describe, el granito presenta una deformación muy poco significativa y corta la foliación de los esquistos en ángulos diversos originando xenolitos. La observación de este afloramiento plantea una contradicción: si la datación es correcta la foliación de los esquistos debería ser ordovícica o anterior. Si los esquistos son hercinianos, la intrusión debería ser tardiherciniana o posterior
