Este trabajo pretende resaltar la importancia del tratamiento de la información en la sociedad actual y la necesidad, por ende, de desarrollar el dominio de la competencia informacional en la ciudadanía, y en concreto en los estudios universitarios. El profesor ha de adaptarse a los nue-vos retos que están surgiendo y apostar por una mejora en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, incorporando estas destrezas en su formación y en la de su alumnado. Las conti-nuaciones reformas de las últimas décadas ha tenido como objetivo ofrecer a las nuevas gene-raciones de estudiantes una enseñanza que cubra estas expectativas, si bien existen aun mu-chas carencias educativas que podrían ser compensadas por una enseñanza por competen-cias en la que la competencia informacional se revela como básica. This work tries to highlight the importance of the data processing in the current company and the need, for ende, of developing the domain of the competition informacional in the citizenship, and in I make concrete in the university studies. The teacher has to adapt to the new challenges that are arising and to bet for an improvement in the process of education - learning, incorpora-ting these skills in his formation and in that of his student body. The continuations reforms of last decades it has had as aim offer to the new generations of students an education that covers these expectations, though there exist even many educational lacks that might be compensated by an education by competitions in which the competition informacional is revealed like basic.
