
Este artículo trata sobre los aspectos teóricos más relevantes actualmente relacionados con el apoyo social y los cuidados familiares y expone los resultados obtenidos en un estudio sobre redes de apoyo social de 40 abuelas cuidadoras en la provincia de Sevilla. Se analizan las características estructurales ( tamaño, composición, densidad, dispersión, etc ) y funcionales de las redes de apoyo de las sujetos así como el conflicto, los cuidadores secundarios y la satisfacción y necesidad de la abuelas en relación a sus propias redes de apoyo. Finalmente se realiza una tipología de redes de apoyo de estas cuidadoras basada en el tamaño percibido de las mismas y en su composición y se relacionan las clases encontradas con las variables sociodemográficas y contextuales del estudio
This article analizes the recent relevant aspects related to social support and family care. The findings of social network study of 40 grandmother caregivers in Seville province are reported. The structural and functional characteristic in social support networks as well as the conflict, secondary caregivers, satisfactions and needs with their networks in this population are described. Finally a social network ́s tipology based in perceived size and composition is built. The clusters founded were related to sociodemographic and contextual indicators.
