Sedimentological and petrographic features of "red beds" at the northwest extreme of the Permian Viar Basin suggest that they were alluvial fans related with a main fault which was the original northern basin limit. Location of the actual "Viar fault" is even coincident with position of this original northern faulted border of the Permian basin
