
A new service industry has emerged to assemble and sterilize custom procedure trays for use in the hospital. CS and materials managers, OR supervisors, infection control practitioners and other hospital personnel are being asked to make a selection among many competing vendors. A methodology is needed to assist these managers in the decision making process. This article will define custom procedure trays and suggest criteria by which the selection process may be assisted.
