EPA issued a notice requesting registrants of pesticide products containing ethylene oxide (EtO) registered for certain uses in hospitals and health care facilities to submit applications to amend approved labeling. Elsewhere in this issue of the Federal Register, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has promulgated comprehensive exposure standards for all occupational uses of EtO. Therefore, EPA has decided to withdraw the original notice in recognition of concerns regarding the potential preemption of the OSHA standards.
