
The medical group manager who fails to come face to face with competition and its future impact may be ignoring his fundamental administrative responsibility for strengthening his group for long-term growth and stability. The author has focused his attention on the broad effects of excess physician supply on internal group economics and external competitive economics, and quantitates their impact. Each manager will have to move from the broad to the specific in "bringing home" the points presented in this discussion. And, they must be "brought home," because they will soon be there whether you bring them or not!
