[ES] España cuenta por primera vez con un código deontológico para todos los profesionales de información y documentación, a partir de la aprobación en 2013 de un documento de ética profesional por parte de Sedic y Fesabid. Este hecho se suma al documento similar adoptado por Ifla, que supone el primer texto de carácter internacional para los profesionales de bibliotecas y servicios de información. Ambas iniciativas contribuyen a reforzar la identidad colectiva y su prestigio social, reflejando también su dependencia de las instituciones que les contratan. Finalmente, los códigos también pueden interpretarse como respuestas frente a las amenazas del economicismo y los malos usos de la tecnología.
For the first time, Spain has a deontological standard for all professionals in Library and Information Science, with the adoption in 2013 of a professional ethics code by SEDIC and FESABID. This is in addition to a similar document adopted by IFLA, which wasthe first international text for professionals in libraries and information services. Both initiatives help to strengthen collective identity and social prestige, also reflecting its dependence on the institutions that employ them. Finally, the codes can also be interpreted as responses to threats of “economicism” and misfeasance of technology.
