Abstract

En 1971, el poeta Juan Rejano, siguiendo un común parecer entre los exiliados, definía a Antonio Rodríguez Luna (1910-1985) como “el pintor de la diáspora española”. Y, en efecto, el artista cordobés reflejó magistralmente en su obra la fisonomía y el dolor del exilio; aunque, en paralelo, su misma trayectoria vital y profesional se convierte en caso paradigmático del artista de esta emigración. No obstante, antes de llegar a México, donde esencialmente transcurrió su exilio, su recorrido artístico en España le condujo del singular surrealismo de anteguerra, al implicado realismo social del período bélico. Cuando arribó al país azteca, pues, su bagaje era el de un “surrealista social”. Luego, su trayectoria pasó, sin perder protagonismo, por las inquietudes de las dos grandes generaciones de este largo destierro. Su pintura se aupa en este libro, pues, además de como reflejo del bagaje exportable de un brillante momento artístico español y sus problemas de confrontación y adaptación respecto a otro escenario artístico, como auténtica y profunda captación de la esencia y vivencia de un duro y prolongado episodio de nuestra historia. Por consiguiente, estas páginas, tanto o más que analizar la vida y la obra del pintor cordobés, cargado con su formación y nostalgia españolas en su exilio mexicano, pretenden mostrar el escenario artístico donde éste desarrolló más por extenso su labor y sus condicionantes.
