Evolución temporal de la profundidad de erosión local en pilas

Abstract

La erosión local en pilas y estribos de puente es una de las principales causas de daño en estas estructuras (Melville y Coleman, 2000). En el diseño de fundaciones de puentes es usual utilizar la profundidad de erosión de equilibrio que se alcanza con el caudal pico del hidrograma de diseño. La profundidad de erosión que se genera al pasar un evento de crecida puede ser bastante menor a la profundidad de equilibrio ya que las escalas de tiempos del evento son, en general, mucho menores que las que alcanzan las erosiones de equilibrio. Por esto, es que la evolución temporal de la profundidad de erosión alrededor de obstáculos presenta una creciente atención de la comunidad científica. En este articulo, se analiza la evolución temporal de la profundidad de erosión local alrededor de una pila cilíndrica en condiciones de flujo estacionario y agua clara, en base a un enfoque experimental. En particular, se valida una expresión para la estimación de la evolución temporal de la erosión. Complementariamente, se analiza la evolución del proceso erosivo, identificando sus distintas fases y cuantificando la duración de la fase inicial del proceso, así como las características geométricas de la fosa
