Abstract

[EN] This paper presents preliminary information on the excavation of El Khil Caves (Achakar, Tanger, Morocco)carried out in September 2011. The aim was to obtain detailed data on the first farming communities in the northern part of Morocco. Two test pits were dug in Grotte B and Grotte C and bioarchaeological samples (both archaeobotanical and zooarchaeological) were taken with the aim of reconstructing the subsistence system of these communities and the origins of farming. In addition, geoarchaeological sampling was also carried out which will allow reconstructing the palaeoenvironmental history of the region.
