Abstract

La biblioteca del Centro de Física “Miguel A. Catalán” (CFMAC) da servicio a tres Institutos del área de Ciencias Físicas: Instituto de Estructura de la Materia, Instituto de Óptica “Daza de Valdés” e Instituto de Física Fundamental. La biblioteca fue creada en 1995 y se ha ido adaptando a los cambios que se han producido en los Institutos y la reestructuración que han tenido sus respectivas bibliotecas a lo largo del tiempo. Su creación se debe a la fusión de las bibliotecas del Instituto de Óptica “Daza de Valdés” (fundada en 1947) y de la biblioteca del Instituto de Matemáticas y Física Fundamental (fundada en 1994). Esta última a su vez, fue la heredera de la biblioteca del Instituto de Matemáticas “Jorge Juan” (creada en 1939) y a todo ello se suma las colecciones de libros y revistas del Instituto de Estructura de la Materia (creado en 1976). En el año 2010 se independiza del CFMAC el Instituto de Matemáticas, trasladándose al Campus de la Universidad Autónoma en Madrid, y con él va gran parte de los fondos de matemáticas existentes en la Biblioteca.
