[ES] Los documentos conservados en papiro nos permiten conocer cómo funcionaba la medicina forense en el Egipto Romano y cuál era su alcance. Los médicos públicos acudían a requerimiento de las autoridades a examinar víctimas de crímenes y accidentes, dentro de un proceso de investigación policial o simplemente para certificar la muerte de algún ciudadano. Se estudiará el tipo de documentos que nos ilustra esta práctica, las personas implicadas en él y las razones que la generaban.
[EN] The development of forensic medicine in Roman Egypt is well attested in the documents preserved on papyrus. Public physicians performed forensic examinations of crime or accident victims within a process of police investigations or simply, in order to certify death for different reasons. The various kinds of documents illustrating this practice will be analyzed, as will the people implicated in the process and the reasons behind its existence.
