Abstract

La región estudiada está comprendida entre los paralelos 17º y 23º latitud N y desde la costa hsta el meridiano 22º longitud W según se muentra en la figura 1. El estudio se hizo durante un período de tiempo aproximada de un mes, desde el día 1 al 24 de marzo de 1973 a bordo del B/O "Cornide de Saavedra". Esta expedición fue programada y dirigida por el Prof. R. MARGALEF. Se han realizado en total 27 estaciones hidrográficas. A las numeradas del 11 al 35 se les ha conservado el mismo número que se les había dado en la expedición anterior “SAHARA II” (agosto-septiembre de 1971) coincidiendo por tanto en su posición geográfica. A las restantes se las numeró del 40 al 47 por orden cronológico de realización y están intercaladas entre las anteriores. En todas ellas, siempre que hubo profundidad suficiente, se tomaron muestras desde la superficie hasta los 1000 metros a todos los niveles estándar, en total 19 niveles. En. las estaciones 14 y 42 se tomaron además muestras a 1200 m, 1500 m y cada 500 m hasta el fondo. Las estaciones 12 y 45 se repitieron cada 4 horas durante un día cada una, a los niveles estándar hasta 200 metros (11 niveles). [...]
