[EN] Chloroform, benzene and mercurie acetate were used as preservative chemicals in sea water samples for total and dissolved organic nitrogen determinations. Chloroform resulted the most efficient chemical. It was efficient for preservation of filtered samples for one hundred days. None of these preservatives was efficient in unfiltered samples.
