Abstract

El análisis de regresión para establecer las relaciones carbono/nitrógeno (C/N) y clorofila/carbono (Clor/C) en la ría de Pontevedra (1980-81), se revela inadecuado debido a la existencia de tres grupos de datos imposibles de separar a priori de modo semejante a como ocurre en el océano. En cualquier caso, el vertido industrial de ENCESA se identifica fácilmente por los altos valores en la relación C/N. El resto de la ría muestra unas relaciones que varían desde las propias para poblaciones de fitoplancton en crecimiento hasta aquellas características de material en vías de descomposición. Las relaciones Clor/C son mucho más variables que las C/N. Destaca el hecho de que en situaciones de total agotamiento de nitratos, no se alcanzan valores de C/N superiores a 15, lo que indica que la remineralización de nutrientes en aguas superficiales debe ser importante. Se discute el papel que juega la picnoclina costera, en la fertilización de la ría, a través de la intrusión, en esta, de ondas. Se describen, además de las situaciones estacionales de fertilización y envejecimiento, los valores de una accidental purga de agua.
