Abstract

[EN] As an introduction to the Spanish Standard for the drawing of the washability curves of a coal, the author describes the theoretical and practical basis for the drawing of the curves of elementary and cummulative ashes of the float and sink, and of the specific gravity curves of a raw coal. The results obtained in two practical cases are given, as well as the details on how to arrange the necessary numerical tables. Some practical applications of these curves are examined, giving a special attention to the study of the re-washing. The drawing of the specific gravity distribution curves is described, as well as the way in which the k index of “washing difficulty” can be deduced from the curve of specific gravity distribution plus-minus 10.
