[EN] A spectrophotometric study on the silicomolybdic acid reaction is made at different pH, temperature, reagent concentration, etc. The probable phosphate interference in the Si-Molybdate reaction is also studied under seleted conditions of work. Absorption is measured at 890 mμ and 640 mμ, after reducing the silicomolybdic acid with metol. This method for the determination of silicate carbe applied to the automatic analysis of sea water, with a change in the reagent concentrations in order to avoid precipitations in the tubes of the autoanalyzer and also trying to shorten the time of reaction. Results of analysis to the silicate concentration is given for different stations in the Ria of Vigo.
