Abstract

[EN]: This paper studies kaolinite presence (raw material with ceramic interest) in some stints developed from granite and shale placed in Huelva Mountains. Stints developed from granite (placed in Santa Olalla and Cala), reach contents in kaolinite in a range between 60% and 70%. In the stints developed from shale (placed in Galaroza and Almonaster), kaolinite is always found; in addition to the presence of aluminium-interlayer mineral. In accordance with the obtained results, kaolinite mineral is more frequent in the deepest stints. In these materials, the existence of iron oxides must be point out, adding that they can damage the above mentioned materials when having industrial applications. Samples placed in Galaroza and Almonaster are considered those with the highest ceramic interest because of their power and content in fraction <20µm as well as their richness in kaolinite mineral.
