Abstract

[EN] This is a first approach to relate conservated fossil bone histology and growth stages for fossil mammals. A relationship exists between bone development and individual age for mammal bones. Comparing histological models belonging to actual mammals and human bones, it has been verified in fossil bones from Somosaguas and Layna sites some characters such as shape, size and density of osteones and osteocites, kind of matrix, etc., that will allow us to develop a method to assign relative age to a fragment of fossil bone.
