Un mapa cultural para situar la enseñanza de la ciencia: la revolución científica y el fin del aristotelismo

Abstract

En este artículo describiremos la evolución del paradigma científico desde la cultura clásica hasta la revolución científica. En artículos posteriores nos ocuparemos de los periodos restantes. Imaginaremos que todo tienen lugar en un escenario cuyo telón de fondo es común a todos ellos, una especie de tapiz imaginario que representa el eje temporal de la historia. En él se pueden distinguir los periodos artísticos que conforman el armazón cultural sobre el que queremos situar la historia de la ciencia. El objetivo de este enfoque es doble. Por un lado se logra ordenar los conocimientos científicos siguiendo un patrón temporal, engarzándolos con los hitos históricos que forman parte del bagaje cultural de los maestros, de tal manera que entiendan el papel de la ciencia como vertebrador de la cultura. Por otro lado, se expone claramente la relación entre conocimiento científico y progreso social, conexión fundamental sin la cual es imposible entender la evolución de la especie humana.
