[EN]The nutrient capacity of different peats from Spain has becn studied by means of electroultrafiltration technic. Low contents of K and P were generally observed with peats, while the N total contení was quite high, mainly the organic form with low reactive capacity. The peats showed: low microbial activity, low capacily to mobilize own N and great capacity to unmobilize the N that might have been added as a fertilizer. In order to use them as fertilizers, K and P must be added, as well as Hile quanlities of organic materials to increase the mineralizalion mecanisms; a liming vvould also reaclivale ihe N, especially in the acid peats.
