Abstract

[EN] The paper presents a summary of the noise characteristics that are present in the offshore windfarms that could have influence on the shallow and very shallow water environment where the windfarms are located. First, there is a presentation of the windparks installations in the EU, and the reason that justifies why they are becoming so popular. The specific marine environment where the turbines are installed is described. The following paragraph goes into the description of the noise sources of the Park along the three steps of their productive life: installation, production and decommissioning. Some results are also presented, compared with the background noise. A review follows on the methods to measure and evaluate the noise from the wind mill sources as well as the mitigation measures that could be taken to lower the noise impact. A brief set of conclusions ends the presentation of this paper.
