En realidad, y a pesar de lo mucho que se ha escrito en los últimos años, no sabemos tanto de mujeres y dialecto como de hombres y dialecto. Y esto es así porque en los estudios dialectales no siempre se ha prestado, o se ha podido prestar, a las mujeres la misma atención que a los hombres. El resultado es que sabemos más de hombres y dialecto, que de mujeres y dialecto, aunque resulta evidente que existen distintos comportamientos lingüísticos ligados al sexo entre hablantes dialectales.
