Abstract

Los metales pesados de la capa superficial edáfica de antiguas zonas mineras, aparte de afectar la productividad de los ecosistemas, pueden afectar a la salud de animales y personas. Por ello se evaluó la biodisponibilidad de metales en una planta forrajera (Lolium perenne L.) mediante un bioensayo en microcosmos con suelos de dos emplazamientos de minas abandonadas, situadas en el centro de España. La capa superficial edáfica presentaba contenidos elevados de Fe, Mn y más de tres de los metales pesados Zn, Pb, Cd, Cu, Cr o Ni, y As con niveles superiores a los niveles de referencia holandeses. Todos los elementos fueron determinados por ICP-OES, excepto el As, que se cuantificó mediante FRX. La toxicidad causada por Cu fue muy fuerte, sin embargo esta especie toleró altos niveles de Zn y Pb. Estos dos elementos son los que se encontraron en mayor concentración en partes aéreas y raíces, pero también se detectaron otros metales analizados. La acumulación de metales pesados por esta planta puede ser evaluada en términos de su posible uso para fitorremediación, pero también puede ser vista en relación al impacto negativo para el ganado que la consume.
