[EN]Far-reaching cultural changes at the beginning of the Early Modern Age, made it possible that certain aims of reserving certain spaces for privacy and devotion were gradually manifesting in the houses. The most direct realization of these behaviors was the preparation of studies by religious, doctors, notaries or all sorts of intellectuals, in which they could read, write or meet with colleagues in the profession. These two facets conflicting –on the one hand, sociability and other privacy– enabled that the study was a major focus of ostentation in the houses, but also of individual and men’s devotion.
