[EN]Study of the evolution of the Spanish diplomatic service in the 18th century through the analysis of the embassy of Vienna and the reforms undertaken in the Secretary of State. The sources used are the letters of both institutions and those of the French embassy in Madrid, together with works and articles of Hernández Franco, Ozanam and Olaechea. Though we can observe a significant development of the service we also perceive deep imperfections that implied some major diplomatic disasters
